It comes as new figures revealed nearly half of all United Kingdom workers had experienced poor mental health in their current job.

Poor mental health affects half of all employees, according to a survey of 44,000 people carried out by the mental health charity Mind.

Meanwhile, a review by the United Kingdom government in 2017 showed that about 300,000 people with long-term mental health problems lose their jobs each year, costing the United Kingdom economy up to £99bn-of which employers bear the financial burden of £42bn.

William said he wanted the gateway to be a "big shift in working culture" and ensure that dealing with mental health is a part of the everyday working life. Managers who felt their employer supported their mental health, or actively learnt about supporting team members with mental health problems, were far more likely to feel confident in promoting staff wellbeing.

"Half the people at work are living with a mental health problem - either now or it's in the past".

Last year's Government-commissioned Thriving at Work report showed that as many as 300,000 people lose their job each year due to a mental health problem, and that poor mental health at work costs the United Kingdom economy between £72 billion and £99 billion.

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, was set to unveil the project, Mental Health at Work, at an event in Bristol on Tuesday.

A recent poll by the Institute of Directors found less than one in five firms offered mental health training for managers. Users are also able to access everything free of charge, and although not necessary, can register for an account to easily see which resources they have already made use of in the past.

"The Mental Health at Work website will help employers to get started, whatever their size - and I know what a godsend that will be for other employers and employees alike".

The project has been created by the duke's mental health campaign Heads Together and the charity Mind which has released the findings of a major study into workplace wellbeing.
