Then Rodgers returned, and the Packers' defense held the Bears in check.

Packers: Host the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. On the following drive, Mack got on the board for the first time as a Bear as he intercepted Kizer, who was under heavy pressure from Robertson-Harris, and returned it 27 yards for the touchdown to make it 17-0.

The Packers were down 20-0 at halftime and without injured star quarterback Aaron Rodgers for part of the game before a somewhat hobbled Rodgers rallied his team past the Bears. The result was Rodgers operating nearly exclusively a no-huddle two-minute offense with plenty of quick throws. But, even being carted off the field wasn't enough to stop the greatest quarterback in the league, as Green Bay won 24-23. We wanted to see where he's at conditioning wise.

"Playing behind Brett Favre for three years, you realize you've got to be tough to play this position", Rodgers said. Vic Fangio and Chicago's defense had it all their way. Oh yeah, and he had what looked to be a devastating knee injury in the second quarter.

"It's a factor", Mack said, "but you really can't make excuses". Mack made an immediate impact in his first game since the Bears acquired the premier pass rusher in a blockbuster deal with the Oakland Raiders. Lance Kendricks moved the sticks with a 13-yard catch in the second half, but it was a quiet night overall from the group. But the offense was stalled again on fourth down as a sack-fumble put an end to a nightmare game that started like a dream.

Well the dream was just that for a few hours Sunday night, then it turned into a nightmare.

Before Rodgers got hurt, he was dancing around in and out of the pocket trying to extend the play while his receivers got open.

According to Packers rookie cornerback Josh Jackson, Mike Pettine's defense didn't really run anything too complicated at any point during the game. Nagy, Mitch Trubisky and that group will have a lot of questions to answer and could've done more to at least avoid a string of three-and-outs that didn't give the defense much time to rest. The offense needs to be better. However, he was able to return in the second half and delivered a performance for the ages.

"When I got the ovation, at that point, I said, 'We might as well win this thing, '" Rodgers recounted.

If there's one positive from Sunday night for this team, it's that the talent gap seems to have narrowed, if not closed, between the Bears and Packers.
