Maximum sustained winds Friday morning were near 35 miles per hour with higher gusts. Top sustained winds are now about 65 miles per hour (100 kph) and the storm is moving to the west-southwest at 5 miles per hour (7 kph) - a track that is expected to continue through early Saturday.

With Hurricane Florence, numerous coastline will see water levels from the storm surge rise over 3 feet, with some families seeing over 9 feet of water near their homes. Tropical storm watches are in effect for Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua, and Saba and St. Eustatius. "What we will get are the remnants of the tropical storm".

Forecasters warned that drenching rains of anywhere from 1 to 3½ feet as the storm crawls westward across North and SC could trigger epic flooding well inland over the next few days.

Preparing for the worst, about 9,700 National Guard troops and civilians were deployed with high-water vehicles, helicopters and boats. On this track the storm could be close to the Cayman Islands by Monday morning.

However, it's not too late to prepare for Hurricane Florence - or any other storm that may move through Coweta County.
