DC Extended Universe Worlds of DC without a Superman and, based on THR's scoop, in need of a new Batman, as Ben Affleck is seemingly close to the exit door, too.

The Hollywood Reporter write that Henry, who has played Superman in three films, can't commit to a planned cameo in Shazam! and the studio is now also reportedly putting a stop to any future appearances in the franchise. Now, netizens are flooding social media with their reactions, and you can probably guess how things are going. While Man of Steel was well received, Dawn of Justice and Justice League were... not.

Henry Cavill is reportedly no longer set to be part of the DC Comics cinematic universe, stepping down as Superman after talks fell through with Warner Bros. Now, it seems Cavill is out as Superman entirely, and fans wish they could have seen the actor sink his teeth into the role again.

Neither representatives for Cavill nor Warner Bros. immediately responded to Fox News' request for comment.

The eight-episode Netflix adaptation of the bestselling medieval fantasy book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski centers on the protagonist Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter known as a "Witcher" who travels the countryside slaying terrifying beasts.

There are no plans for a third Superman film for several years, and it is now thought that Warners are shifting their strategy and focusing on standalone movies, including an upcoming Supergirl movie, which will be an origin story featuring a teen superheroine.
