Thibaut Courtois says he has a “certain preference” amid Real Madrid rumours

Thibaut Courtois has admitted he has a "preference" to where his future lies but has not clarified whether that is Chelsea or Real Madrid. Courtois was in goal in Red Devils as he and his team-mates are into the World Cup quarter-finals after a thrilling 3-2 comeback against Japan to set up a mouth-watering encounter against tournament favourite Brazil at the Kazan Arena on Friday night.

Courtois and Alisson could both be on the move with interest from Real Madrid.

He said: "My children are the most important thing for me: I now have 1.5 years less contact with them".

Real Madrid are keen on signing Courtois and reports in Spain claimed last week that the Belgian's agent Christophe Henrotay has already been in talks with the Champions League holders.

While he wants to sort out his future, the 26-year-old said the World Cup was his focus and will not make any decisions on his future until Belgium's fate in Russian Federation has been decided. "That is not to say I'm going back, but for me my kids are very important and I will do something to see them more".

Courtois spent three seasons on loan with Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014, before returning to parent club Chelsea to replace Petr Cech as their number one goalkeeper.

While he wants to sort out his future, the 26-year-old said the World Cup was his focus.

On the opposite side of the field to Alisson will be Thibaut Courtois, who may well be his predecessor between the sticks in SW6. I have not seen them a lot in the last 18 months.
