Stormy Daniels arrested after strip club performance in Ohio lawyer

The charges against Stormy Daniels have been dismissed following her arrest in OH early Thursday morning.

She also allegedly grabbed an undercover officer's face and pressed it between her breasts, CNN reports.

Avenatti took to Twitter to respond to his client's arrest and said the incident was "a setup and politically motivated".

Documents posted on the Franklin County Municipal Court website show Ms Daniels has posted $6,054 (£4,586) in bail, and is scheduled for an arraignment on Friday.

By early afternoon, prosecutors said they were dropping the case because Ohio's law against physical contact between strippers and customers applies only to someone who "regularly" performs at a club.

Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, is suing Trump and his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen to nullify a 2016 non-disclosure agreement preventing her from speaking out about an alleged affair she says she had with Trump in 2006. "We will fight all bogus charges", Avenatti said. According to the dismissal documents, OH law states that it is illegal to "knowingly touch a patron" on the premises of a "sexually oriented business" on which they "regularly appear nude or seminude".

He says he's skeptical of the police account, saying the intent of the undercover officers "did not appear to be to look for victims of human trafficking or prostitutes".

According to a Columbus Police report shared by a Fox affiliate in Cleveland, Daniels went on the club's main stage at 11:30 p.m. for a performance. "This was a setup and politically motivated", he wrote on Twitter.

"I think this is ridiculous, I think it's an absurd use of law enforcement resources", he said Thursday morning talking with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle. According to a tweet from Stormy's laywer, Michael Avenatti, she has been charged with three misdemeanors, all of which Stormy will plead "not guilty to".

A fourth officer then exited the club to request assistance to make an arrest.

Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, the porn film star who said she had an affair with Donald Trump before he became USA president, is shown in this booking photo released by Franklin County Sheriff's Office, in Columbus, Ohio, on July 12, 2018. A person who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment.

Trump admitted in May that he reimbursed Cohen for the payment, although he said at the time he did not know what it was for.

Daniels has been the focus of global headlines since it was revealed she received a pre-election payoff meant to buy her silence related to an alleged affair with Trump. Trump has denied any sexual relationship with Daniels.
