Liverpool FC news: Reds set to sign Xherdan Shaqiri by this weekend

Xherdan Shaqiri is having a medical on Merseyside after cutting short his holiday to complete his move to Liverpool from Stoke, Sky Sports News understands.

Liverpool will pay £13 million for Xherdan Shaqiri with the Switzerland global undergoing a medical today in order to finalise his move from Stoke City.

The 26-year-old scored eight goals and made seven assists in 36 Premier League games for the Potters last season but could not prevent them from dropping down to the Championship.

Shaqiri was heavily linked with a potential move to Anfield last month but with the Swiss worldwide was at the World Cup, no progress over a deal had been made.

Klopp has already acquired Fabinho this summer along with completing the signing of Neiby Keita ready for the 2018/19 season.

Liverpool are reportedly paying a fee in the region of £13 million for the Stoke man, who will provide competition for the Reds in the final third.

Since the end of the season, Shaqiri has been linked with a number of clubs due to a release clause in his contract which was activated when Stoke were relegated from the Premier League. Adding the Switzerland global can provide much-needed cover for star forward Mohamed Salah in particular.
