Dejan Lovren- Dejan Lovren confident Croatia can beat Russia in quarter-final and eclipse 1998 heroes by winning World Cup title

Host nation Russia's dream run at the World Cup will be put to the test against Croatia in the quarter-finals on Saturday - Here are the confirmed line-ups for both sides.

Croatia repeat the feat of their illustrious predecessors of 1998 by reaching the semi-finals. "There are no favorites at this World Cup, you have to fight it out", Dalic said.

Modric, the Man of the match, said, "Another drama for us". I told him we were disappointed. "We have to improve that element as we conceded there today", Modric said, referring to Russia's late 2-2 equalizer which sent up the penalties.

The Croats hadn't advanced to the semifinals at the World Cup since 1998, when the country made its first appearance.

Somehow, even with walking wounded on the pitch and even when Russian Federation roared after Mario Fernandes' late equaliser, Croatia hung on to win after the shoot-out.

Subasic didn't need to win the shootout the same way he did against Denmark, when his three saves were the reason the Croatian team advanced.

Croatia goalkeeper Danijel Subasic once again came up big, making some big saves in regulation, one after getting injured, and saving Russia's first penalty kick.

At 1-1, Fernandes missed his shot - only the second player to miss in any of the four shootouts at this year's World Cup. Croatia's shooters did enough that Ivan Rakitic's successful penalty was the victor and set off another wild celebration with Subasic on the bottom of the pile.

"We dominated in extra-time and were the better team, we should have finished the job before penalties - but maybe it is written in the stars that we had to go through the extra drama".

Zlatko Dalic's side bossed proceedings, but found themselves trailing to a gem of a strike by Denis Cheryshev after 31 minutes, before Andrej Kramaric brought them back on level terms six minutes to the half-time break. "We gave everything we could".

Ignashevich started all five of the host nation's games at the World Cup, as Russian Federation generally played a deep defensive line which compensated for his lack of speed. This was not a handsome game, it was a fight, a battle for the semifinal. "We were lucky. I was concentrating throughout the match, but after that penalty it came bursting out of me".

The tournament in Russian Federation is seen as the last chance for the gifted generation of Modric (32), Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic (32), Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic (30) and Inter forward Ivan Perisic (29) to win a major title. Quickly eyeing the open space on his right, he played a give-and-go with Dzyuba to create space, and then unleased a left-footer to the awe of all who witnessed a classic goal.

Cheryshev scored twice in Russia's 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the tournament's opening game, and was also on target as they defeated Egypt 3-1 in their second group outing.
