"It is unbelievable. It is the dream of dreams, the dream of the future, everything", Mbappe said. I can improve and get better...

As France prepared for Sunday's final, Pogba, 25, promised there was more to come from him not only this weekend but in years to come.

"Against Portugal we thought we had won it before the start of the game". We don't realise the support we're receiving like we did at the European Championships. "It's been a few years since we got this opportunity".

Asked if he will be wary of revenge when the teams meet in the final of this year's tournament in Moscow on Sunday, Pogba said: "Croatia do not have stars - they want one".

Pogba, 25, was instrumental in the semi-final win in St Petersburg, as Samuel Umtiti's goal in the 51st minute put the 1998 champions in the World Cup final against the victor of Croatia and England.

The loser of that match will battle Belgium for third place in the consolation match Saturday.

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti is full of praise for France teammate Paul Pogba. Hundreds of thousands of fans had poured on to the Champs Elysees and around the Arc de Triomphe as bars, cafes and restaurants enjoyed a bumper evening of revelry after the World Cup equivalent of a local derby between the neighbouring rivals.

One would think that the pace and skill of Belgium's Eden Hazard would be the biggest sources of danger for France on the night, yet that came from within the French squad, at the sound of the final whistle.

"(France is) very good defensively, and I think they're playing like the best team in the world right now", said Gobert, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in the National Basketball Association.

Giroud, 31, kept his starting spot for France in the semi-final clash and has started five of his nation's six matches in the tournament so far.
