Furthermore, the flights that were to arrive at Islamabad airport this morning have been diverted to Lahore airport. According to Geo.tv, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has taken Nawaz and Maryam in its custody.

A 16-member team of NAB, including two women officers, has been formed under the headship of Director Amjad Ali Aulakh to arrest them. Upon landing at the Islamabad airport, they will either be flown to Adiala Jail or driven to Attock Jail, Dawn newspaper reported.

However, both Nawaz Sharif and Zardari have taken turns repetitively but have been unable to make any changes.

Their flight, EY243 departed more than two hours late from Terminal 3 at Abu Dhabi airport.

A senior prison department official said former VVIPs and VIPs are given "better class" jail facilities but it is up to the provincial government to decide whether Maryam will be housed in the women's barracks or separately, as she does not fall in the category of VIP or government official.

The Accountability Court, according to Geo News, has issued imprisonment warrants for former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam.

Supporters lined the roads leading to the three rallies Khan spoke at on Thursday night, swarming his entourage to fling rose petals as he entered each venue.

The rally kicked off at the Lohari Gate in the afternoon and could manage to proceed a few kilometers as party workers struggled to remove cargo containers on their way.Close to the airport, Sharif's supporters clashed with police which otherwise did not stop them from removing containers.

Uniformed men escorted the Sharifs, who were sentenced in absentia on corruption charges last week, from their airplane after it touched down in the central city of Lahore at around 8:45 p.m. (1645 GMT), a Reuters reporter on board said. He and his party have accused the military of being behind his conviction, saying it is going after the PML (N) for its criticism of the security establishment.

The arrest will be a blow to Sharif's PML-N party, which is contesting a July 25 general election as the incumbent party, but alleges that it has been the victim of "political engineering" by its opponents during the campaign.

He added that party workers were in touch with the party through social media. The party rallies from Attock will join the main rally at the Chakri interchange, and the s rally will stay there to include the rallies from Attock and nearby areas.

Mr Khan requested his party workers to show patience ahead of Sharif's arrival from London later in the day.

"Democracy, and a democratic government has to be respected", Sharif told Reuters.
