Leicester City will again kick off the new Premier League season when they play Manchester United on a Friday night in the first televised match.

As reported by the Times, This is the first deal agreed upon between the Premier League and Facebook, and it's reportedly worth £200m over three years.

The game was confirmed to kick off 24 hours ahead of previously scheduled when United Kingdom television broadcast rights holders Sky Sports and BT Sport revealed their selections for the first two months of the campaign.

The social media giant has apparently beaten BeIN Sports and Fox Sports Asia to a three-year contract.

Last month Amazon secured the rights to show Premier League matches for the first time in further evidence of their financial might in the bidding wars for sports events.

It was a busy January transfer window in the Premier League as most of the top teams brought in significant reinforcements for the second half of the season.

Facebook is trying to enhance its sports portfolio and bid unsuccessfully against Star India for the rights to the Indian Premier League cricket competition previous year.

The online retailer will live stream 20 matches per season from 2019, at no extra cost to existing Amazon Prime members in the UK.
