Klopp rallies behind Karius after pre-season blunder

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has defended goalkeeper Loris Karius after another mistake - this time in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere.

Rafael Camacho, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana - the England midfielder captaining the side - were on target before the break at Prenton Park on Tuesday.

"Yeah, it will probably happen for a while until he has a few fantastic games, that is how the situation is", said Klopp.

When Karius made two awful mistakes in the Champions League final, supporters were furious and the last month and a half has been a process of trying to forgive the German even if forgetting is not an option.

"We can not change that".

He said: "Now Loris concedes that goal but we can not start the story always after each mistake". Our job is to perform and you do what you do and that is part of the deal.

Ben Tollitt, who is a huge supporter of Klopp's side, turned around as he ran off to celebrate with Smith and shouted towards Karius 'you're f****** s****'.

Speaking to Liverpool FC's website, Klopp said: "I'm not sure if I should have expected something different but it [the reception from fans] was nice, absolutely nice".

Nobody likes that goal but if we talk about the second goal I think it was Millie's (James Milner's) fault together with (Pedro) Chirivella.

'Two brilliant footballers make mistakes but we only talk about one.

With Kent and Wilson having been amongst the goals against Chester in the previous match, Klopp really does now have a headache, with each Liverpool youngster desperate for a break.

"First half was obviously good. That's the situation - 3-2, nobody injured and everybody had 45 minutes [of] intensity That's what we wanted".
