IHOb no more: IHOP announces 60-cent short stacks

IHOP has changed its name back from IHOB

IHOP announced on Facebook that its name change was a hoax to promote new burgers, according to KATU-2.

"We'd never turn our back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers)", it read in part.

IHOP is giving away its iconic short stacks for a few cents on July 17.

The restaurant group also updated its website to remove the temporary IHOb logo and replace it with the usual IHOP version.

The restaurant known for its pancakes tweeted Monday the only reason they said they were changing their name on June 11 was to "promote our new burgers".

IHOb has officially returned to calling itself IHOP - and admitted the change was all part of a publicity stunt. While pancakes are once again at the forefront, the new line of burgers will remain on the menu.

The plan does seem to have gotten people talking - after all, now we all know that IHOP serves both their traditional pancakes and, yes, a burger.

The name change lit up social media. And, IHOP never took pancakes off the menu.
