Godzilla 2 First Look Goes Atomic with the King of Monsters

Godzilla

In the history of the Godzilla series, it's tough to gauge the strength of each huge creature, as the conflicts between monsters require both brute strength and fighting strategies to come out on top. The first look comes about a week before the Warner Bros.

That's because in addition to providing us with an early look at the return of the severely mutated dinosaur yesterday evening, Entertainment Weekly also sat down with the man behind the camera and asked him the question on everyone's mind: How will King of the Monsters set up Godzilla Vs. Kong? The movie is the sequel to 2014's blockbuster Godzilla and it will see the legendary monster take on a host of other giant creatures from the classic Japanese Godzilla movies. He's like this winged A-bomb. "In a lot of ways he's more powerful than Godzilla. I think we've done him justice".

Godzilla meets Ghidorah, and Mothra, and Rodan when Godzilla: King of the Monsters crashes into theaters next year. It's really gonna be something seeing all these creatures rendered in 2018 effects, but for my money the real draw of Godzilla: King of The Monsters will be seeing Dougherty work with this level of spectacle.

"Not without giving away too much", he laughs. While we shouldn't expect to see the primate debut in King of the Monsters, Dougherty teased that there will be plenty of clues that lead to the chaotic conflict.

The film will feature Kyle Chandler as a scientist and Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown as his family members with Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, Elizabeth Ludlow, Randy Havens, Sally Hawkins, O'Shea Jackson, Jr., Bradley Whitford, Zhang Ziyi, and Ken Watanabe rounding out the cast.

"It's not like we're bending over backwards to introduce Kong, but there's definitely some bread crumbs", he said.

The fear of more monsters in Godzilla 2 is well warranted.
