Fortnite LTM Playground Mode on Hold Amid Matchmaking Issues

Fortnite Missile Launches for All to See

Unlike Save the World, Fortnite Battle Royale is a free-to-play mode now available to download on most major platforms.

After a couple of days of uncertainty due to matchmaking issues, Epic Games has begun to bring Fortnite's highly-anticipated Playground limited time mode back online. Today, the company offered another update on the status of Playground mode, but you might want to temper your expectations before you get too excited. Sadly, Epic was unable to find a fix and worked through the weekend on getting the mode enabled. As for further tests after that and when the game mode will return, Epic Games didn't have a clear answer just yet. Up until now, most of its updates have consisted of variations on "we'll have more to say later", but this time around, Epic actually explains some of the roadblocks that remain.

Throughout the LTM's downtime, Epic posted to Reddit to provide a number of updates on the process of testing matchmaking improvements, so players were kept in the loop.

"We have some system performance goals that we believe are required in order to relaunch the Playground LTM", Epic's statement reads. Still, the tests it's now running should give us a better idea of when the mode might return.

But while Epic Games have promised to bring the LTM back as soon they could, fans got a big update tonight.

"All of our teams have been working incredibly hard for the last few days and made some fantastic breakthroughs, but we're still running into significant back-pressure problems well before the point that we can flush any reasonable number of people into the mode, and then the gates get shut". "We won't know that for sure until after we complete our current testing phase, which will be done in a few hours".
