Ball is life ... and the family of Renard Matthews used his love of the Celtics so others would remember him as they do.

The family of a New Orleans shooting victim who died last month prepared his body for his wake over the weekend in a way they said honors his memory.

Matthews' family was understandably shocked by the news of their son's death, but remembered him a fitting way.

The teen's mom, Temeka, told WGNO that her son was a bit of a homebody and had only recently started venturing outside before he was killed in a shooting on June 25.

At the Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home in Treme, Matthews was sitting in a chair, video game controller in hand, surrounded by his favorite snacks, and his beloved Boston Celtics on the television screen.

Matthews' body was sat lounged back in a padded swivel chair, and he was dressed in his Boston Celtics vest.

With the burial scheduled for Tuesday, hopefully close friends and family members of Renard were able to visit him over the weekend, as his life was celebrated in distinct fashion.
