As this chart from Statista shows, Netflix's 112 nomination put it in first place, with three more than runner-up HBO and four times as many as the next leading streaming service, Hulu.

The top comedy nominee is Donald Glover's Atlanta, with 16.

Showtime's revival of the cult hit drama missed out on nominations in several major Emmy categories, failing to secure expected nods for Outstanding Limited Series or for star Kyle MacLachlan for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

It was a very strong freshman class, and all five shows are back this year.

Game of Thrones now holds the record for most Emmy wins for a drama series at 38, with anything it picks up at this years awards show being gravy.

Moss was nominated for best actress in a drama series for The Handmaid's Tale, with Strahovski's nomination coming in the supporting actress category.

Only one of this year's categories, supporting actor in a drama, lacked any performers of color.

Meanwhile, 2018 freshman series nominees on the comedy side are HBO's "Barry", Netflix's "GLOW", and Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel".

HBO, which was recently acquired by wireless carrier AT&T Inc, had 108 nominations, and noted in a statement that it was the eighth year it had gathered 100 nominations or more.

Some of TV's best work is now being done in the realm of limited series, and that was true again this season, with "Patrick Melrose", "Godless" and "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story" all making strong bids for attention. He is also nominated for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for "Saturday Night Live".

Lead actor in a drama series: Jason Bateman (Ozark); Sterling K Brown (This Is Us); Ed Harris (Westworld); Matthew Rhys (The Americans); Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us); and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld). The 70th Emmy Awards will be held on Monday, Sept. 17.
