Admired by younger generation, Roger Federer isn't slowing down at Wimbledon

Roger Federer, who has yet to lose a set during this tournament, celebrates his 6-0, 7-5, 6-4 win over France's Adrian Mannarino on Monday to advance to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, fifth seed Juan Martin del Potro met stubborn resistance from Frenchman Gilles Simon and had to settle for a suspension of their Wimbledon fourth round match as he led 7-6 (1), 7-6 (5), 5-7 after more than three hours on Court Two.

Now 36, Federer has since supplanted Sampras as Wimbledon's greatest male champion and appears poised to extend his record eight singles titles at the All England Club, gliding from one round to the next, yet to lose a set or his serve through four rounds of play.

"It was crucial for him to stay in the match at the beginning of the second set and then it got tougher", said 20-time major victor Federer.

The 36-year-old has now won 32 consecutive sets at Wimbledon, just two behind his record set from the third round in 2005 to his title triumph in 2006.

"I've often said the day that you don't feel nervous is the day you should be more anxious about".

He has also lost all four meetings against the 20-time major victor, failing to win a set off the great Swiss star. That it happened to be in straights, it helps me for the season and to save energy for the rest of the tournament.

Federer has breezed through week one as if conducting a clinic, and is on a run of 67 unbeaten service games stretching back to the eighth game of the first set in his semi-final against Tomas Berdych a year ago.

Federer and Nadal could both face each other in the Wimbledon final as they continue their battle for Grand Slam supremacy. "I'm happy it worked", Federer said of scoring a point on Struff with the SABR shot.

They roared for Roger Federer just for showing up, greeting his arrival at Wimbledon's main stadium as if his mere presence were enough to justify the price of admission.

Federer threatened a massacre before easing through to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon for the 16th time.

The world number two has also now not dropped serve since the semi-finals a year ago. "Maybe you should ask the questions over in Russian Federation, how they're going to feel about Wimbledon being played at the same time". In his column for the Times of India, former World No. 1 Boris Becker wrote, "The first week has been starkly contrasting for the men and women at Wimbledon this year".

"That's how important Wimbledon is to me and to us over here". His problem has always been the first week of Wimbledon, not the second week. He hadn't been this far at the All England Club since 2011, losing to men ranked 100th or worse on four of his past five appearances.

Kiki Bertens followed up her win over Venus Williams by beating No. 7 Karolina Pliskova, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), to reach the quarterfinals for the first time.

"I mean, I'm definitely going to have to look at it the right way".

The 22nd seed, humbled by the opening-set bagel, did manage to put up a much sterner challenge in the second, taking it to 5-5.

Latvian 12th seed Ostapenko enjoyed a 7-6 (7/4), 6-0 win against Belarusian world number 50 Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
