President Donald Trump's chief economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, on Sunday charged Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with the "betrayal" of Trump and other leaders of the Group of Seven industrial nations following their summit in Quebec.

Some 75 percent of Canadian exports go to the United States, making Canada uniquely vulnerable to a USA trade war.

Kudlow was speaking following the G7 summit in Canada on Saturday.

U.S. President Donald Trump angered his G7 allies last week by slapping them with hefty tariffs on steel and aluminum - a move that prompted Canada and the European Union to threaten duties of their own.

"We have a very good relationship with President Trump, we work with President Trump, the United Kingdom has a very good relationship with the USA", she said. According to Trudeau, he told the president that Canadians may be polite and reasonable but they will not be pushed around and that his nation doesn't "relish" putting tariffs on US goods and services but is willing to do so. "He was polarizing. He really kind of stabbed us in the back, he did a great disservice to the whole G-7, he betrayed them." he said.

Peter Navarro, Trump's trade adviser, directed a series of stinging comments at Trudeau on "Fox News Sunday". "Angela (Merkel) and Emmanuel (Macron) and Justin (Trudeau) - I would say the relationship is a 10".

Macron made the remarks against U.S. President Donald Trump as he spoke with Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"He did him a favor", Navarro said.

At the summit, of which the build-up to had been dominated by Mr Trump's decision to slap tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, the world leaders had agreed a statement that read: "We acknowledge that free, fair and mutually beneficial trade and investment, while creating reciprocal benefits, are key engines for growth and job creation".

"Canada does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks. and we refrain particularly from ad hominem attacks when it comes from a close ally", Freeland told reporters in Quebec City on Sunday.

"Kim must not see American weakness". "And we charge nothing", Trump said. We are sticking to them and whoever reneges on them is showing incoherence and inconsistency.

When a CNN reporter asked Trump to respond to a question about whether he had sowed division in the G7 in what many have described as a G6-plus-one scenario, the president excoriated the reporter for perpetuating "fake news".

"There will not be a sunset clause. we will not, can not sign a trade deal that expires automatically every five years", he told a news conference at the end of a Group of Seven summit in Quebec.

"In a matter of seconds, you can destroy trust with 280 Twitter characters", the German foreign minister added.

European members were expressing solidarity with Trudeau the day after Trump's Twitter blast. "Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn't", he tweeted. Bob Corker, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, vowed to press ahead with legislation that would require lawmakers to approve of trade actions by the President that are done on the grounds of national security, despite opposition from Trump.

"Great meetings and relationships with the six Country Leaders especially since they know I can not allow them to apply large Tariffs and strong barriers to. United States of America".
