The fact is that Arsenal are refusing to budge on their position vis-a-vis the terms of Wilshere's new contract that would see him take a 20% cut to pocket a modest £100,000-a-week.

New West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is said to be a big admirer of Wilshere and intends to build his team around him, and United have been informed that the player would prefer to stay in the capital.

The 26-year-old has been at Arsenal since the age of nine, earning his first professional contract with the club seven years later.

The ex-Bournemouth loanee, however, is said to be unhappy with Emery's desire to utilise him as a squad player and not as a regular starter in his team.

The negotiations seem to have gone well as the Mirror claim the Uruguayan global has now agreed terms over a five-year contract after Arsenal settled on a deal worth £26m with Sampdoria for his signature. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian outfit Napoli could make a loan move for the veteran goalkeeper. That's not good enough, even if many of them have been strikes to remember.

In between those conversations, Emery has made a beeline for Steven Nzonzi, the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder who worked under the Frenchman at Sevilla, as well as Porto's Yacine Brahimi. The 29-year-old France global is wanted by the Gunners "to add some steel to their midfield" says the Daily Express.

The report claims that Man United are preparing a £60M bid for Willian.
