In a shocking new scandal to hit the Tamil film industry, actor Sangeetha Balan has been held in connection with a high-level prostitution racket. She has worked in several films and was famous for her role in Sun TV's Vani Rani show.

Tamil TV actress Sangeetha Balan has been arrested for allegedly running a prostitution racket at a resort in Chennai.


According to a report in The Times of India, the police got a tip-off about the flesh trade going on in the resort.

Sangeetha is a well known face for Tamil audiences. Several women from different states were rescued from a resort in Chennai and sent to a rehabilitation centre, police said. She has also acted in serials such as Karuppu Roja and Tamilsevanum Thaniyar Anjalum among others. The actress has also featured in many television serials like Chellamey, Valli, Aval and Annakodiyum Aindhu Pengalum, among others. In Vani Rani, Sangeetha essays the role of Sundari Kaaliappan. The police produced Sangeetha and Suresh before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore and the two were reportedly sent to jail.
