Swara Bhasker says her character Sakshi in Veere Di Wedding seems like a fun character to her

The Veere Di Wedding starlet had come under vast criticism after commenting on the ban of her film in the country, she stated: "And why should we hold Pakistan, a failing state as a measure of self-worth?"

Several Pakistani celebrities Urwa Hocane, Gohar Rasheed, and Armeena Rana Khan joined on Twitter and responded to the actor's intolerance and ill-informed facts.

Speaking to film critic Rajeev Masand about the ban on "Veere Di Wedding" in Pakistan, Bhaskar called Pakistan a "failing state".

"They're a nonsecular state". Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state - I don't understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan.

Her comment came after Veere Di Wedding was banned in Pakistan following which we witnessed a mini storm in a teacup on social media. In a series of tweets, Urwa referred to Swara's 2015 interview and said she is an ignorant person, who contradicts her own statements. Some of my closest friends are Pakistani. "And all of this is odd coming from a citizen of a state that bans their own films i.e. #Padmavat so let's not talk about women empowerment", she added. Rest assured, Pakistanis have way worse vocabulary than we do. United by hating on Swara", Swara replied, "Dushman ka dushman dost!

Shashanka Ghosh directorial Veere Di Wedding continued its fabulous run at the ticket windows on the third day of its release and managed to rake in a total of Rs 36.52 crore in the first three days.
