Tesla Autopilot update to include first 'full self-driving features'

"The software update is good news", said Chaim Siegel, an analyst with Elazar Advisors, adding that Tesla shares were still benefiting from Musk's prediction last week that the company would finally hit its production target for its Model 3 sedan.

Musk says that the SpaceX package could contain as many as 10 thrusters "arranged seamlessly around the vehicle". What's more, Tesla claims that the auto will have a range of 620 miles. Elon Musk has tweeted about the possibility of rocket thrusters for extra boost for the Roadster and knowing what he is capable of, it might turn out to be a reality.

Those potential benefits would be in addition to the previously announced specifications for the electric vehicle, which includes a 200kWh battery pack that will enable the auto to achieve a 0-60 miles per hour time of 1.9 seconds.

Tesla unveiled the new Roadster in November.

As a remake of one of Tesla's very first vehicles, the new Roadster has been kept under wraps for the past few months and from the outside at least, the Tesla Roadster continues the design language we've seen on the Model X, Model 3 and updated Model S, with a somewhat more aggressive edge.

He ended by saying "New Tesla Roadster will exceed all gas sports cars in every way". Musk called the new Tesla Roadster a "smackdown" to conventional vehicle companies, and after taking a look at the specs, I think he has a point.

The Tesla founder made the disclosure in a Twitter conversation, responding to a user who complained about issues with Autopilot, which is now considered semi-autonomous with the requirement that a motorist be at the wheel at all times.

The reason behind including rocket thrusters to Tesla's next-generation Roadster is to "dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking and cornering".

The system will most often be powered by the vehicle's battery pack, according to Musk.
