"It's no longer down with Trump".

"Bruce, you can rock the house like nobody else", said De Niro. "I'm just going to say one thing", De Niro said, "Fuck Trump!"

De Niro has been very outspoken about his dislike of Trump, famously referring to him as a "fucking idiot" and the "baby-in-chief" while introducing Meryl Streep at the National Board of Review Gala in January.

Robert De Niro stole the show for the audience at the Tony Awards in NY on Sunday night, when he used his time onstage to once again register his disapproval of US President Donald Trump in the bluntest way possible. The acclaimed actor took the stage at the 2018 Tony Awards where he once again blasted the commander in chief! "Boy, do we need that now!"

Getty Robert De Niro received a standing ovation after opening his speech saying "f*ck Trump".

Springsteen laughed as he sat down at the piano to play. "Mr. De Niro's comments were unscripted and unexpected", CBS said in a statement.

Later, Tony Awards hosts John Groban and Sara Bareiles walked out wearing beards.

British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber was also awarded the lifetime achievement award following a career spanning more than 50 years. The actor also popped up several times on Saturday Night Live this past season playing Robert Mueller, the lead investigator in a case looking into ties between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.
