Nipah virus disease has affected two districts of Kerala-Kozhikode and Malappuram, and Government of India has issued the following guidelines.

Resin, 25, who died on Thursday, was initially treated at the Balussery hospital when another Nipah affected patient, Nikhil was undergoing treatment.

Eighteen positive cases of Nipah virus have been reported in Kerala since its outbreak in May, of which 16 have been fatal. Several other Indian states have sent samples for testing from people who reported Nipah-like symptoms in the past few days.

The cause of her death has to be ascertained, she said.

"As a precautionary measure, it has been made a decision to further postpone the reopening of schools and colleges and holding of examinations", Shailaja said.

These doctors and nurses had come in contact with two Nipah virus patients who died.

The order directs that all educational institutions, including professional colleges should be closed till June 11.

State Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran, who hails from this district, said the need of the hour is for people to be very cautious as even when things are under control, people have to cooperate.

- Additional Chief Secretary Rajeev Sadanandan said the monoclonal antibodies have arrived in Kerala from Australia and are being sent to Kochi to Kozhikode's medical college.

After the death of a superintendent of Kozhikode district court complex due to Nipah, the district bar association asked the collector to temporarily put operations on hold. Eleven of them have shown symptoms and are under quarantine while about 1,500 suspects are under home quarantine, reported NDTV.

A similar note of caution was also issued by the Himachal Pradesh health ministry after more than 18 dead bats were discovered in the premises of a government school in Nahan. The state animal husbandry department captured the bats from a well at the compound of the house of the victims but the authorities found no virus in them, meaning the source of the Nipah virus came from somewhere else.

The central experts from the National Centre for Disease Control are continuing to evaluate the situation and taking necessary measures, said a press release quoting the minister.
