Kim summit 'better than anybody could have expected'

For all the upbeat talk, it remained to be seen what, if any, concrete results the sit-down would produce.

Wearing a marijuana cryptocurrency t-shirt, dark sunglasses, and a "Make America Great Again" hat, Rodman told CNN he is "just happy to be a part of it because I think I deserve it".

He talked about the pair achieving "tremendous success together" and predicts that "it will be successful".

"The past. and the old prejudices and practices worked as obstacles on our way forward". There was a past that grabbed our ankles and wrong prejudices and practices that at times covered our eyes and ears. "But we overcame all of them and we are here today".

Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) released a statement saying the two discussed mutual relations and the situation on the Korean peninsula, with Prime Minister Lee thanking Kim for his and Trump's "bold and admirable decision" to hold the summit.

"And if we're not willing to do that, we're not going to get a good deal", Graham said, complementing the worldwide community - including China and Russian Federation - for standing behind Trump in regards to sanctions on North Korea.

Asked if he would meet Kim in Singapore, he said he thought the North Korean leader had "bigger things to worry about", but added that every time he'd met with Kim, it had been a surprise.

"I spoke to Kim Jong-un and the North Korean administration five years ago, and he told me there were three things I should speak to the U.S. president about".

Kim has been accused of horrific rights abuses against his people.

The two leaders did not respond to reporters' questions on what they would be signing. "But I really believe that we have the potential to do something incredible for the world". But he added "our hostages" are back home and testing, research and launches have stopped. Mr Trump had said on Saturday he would know within a minute of meeting Mr Kim whether he would reach a deal.

"If you just look at it as, 'Give up your stuff, ' that framework is why we've been banging our head against the wall for so long", said John Delury, a North Korea scholar at Yonsei University in Seoul. Trump left that summit early and, as he flew to Singapore, tweeted that he was yanking the USA out of the group's traditional closing statement.

The president planned to stop in Guam and Hawaii on the way back to Washington.

"Going round the Great Flower Garden, one of the prides of Singapore, Sky Park located on the roof of the world-famous Marina Bay Sands building and Singapore Port, he learned about the social and economic development of the Republic of Singapore", KCNA reported.

But Kim appeared to echo the president's optimism. American diplomats also work closely with Singapore on many strategic issues, and it has been a longtime USA trading partner and ally.

An American president and a North Korean dictator are meeting for the first time. "In light of how many flimsy agreements the United States has made in previous years, this President will ensure that no potential agreement will fail to adequately address the North Korean threat". Or, it could amount to little more than a much-photographed handshake.

"Adversaries can indeed become friends", Mr. Trump said. Among the key points in the document was North Korea's commitment to "work towards the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula".

Setting out the USA position before the summit, Pompeo stressed that the Trump administration would only accept complete denuclearisation of the North.
