A Tennessee woman was arrested after a video apparently showed her letting children out of pet kennels in the back of a parked vehicle.

Video surfaced after a concerned citizen who saw the unfolding incident took it upon themselves to film the children getting out of the kennels for evidence in case police didn't show up in time.

Leimome Cheeks 62, was arrested and charged with two counts of child endangerment, WREG reports. She's such a nice lady, " neighbor Skylark Blake said. The dog kennels were in the back of her and the kids were kept inside for a 35-minute on a hot day, reported WREG.

Cheeks told police that she traveled with the children in the kennel from Collierville to Whitehaven because there was no room for them in the vehicle. They also said Cheeks was a church-going woman.

Cheeks is being charged with child endangerment, while police and Child Services continue their investigations.

Temperatures in Memphis, Tennessee, reached up to 33 degrees on Saturday.

Neighbors of Cheeks have spoken to local news outlets about the freakish and abusive treatment. "For them to be in the hot vehicle like that in cages is sad", neighbor Nikita Blake said. She said they were later allowed to ride in the backseat.

Once arrested a day later, Cheeks told cops that she put the kids in the kennels because she had run out of space in the vehicle.

"I really can't see her doing that", she added.

After being arrested on Sunday, Cheeks posted $100 bond.

Cheeks is expected to appear in court Monday morning.
