Are you excited for Doom Eternal? Um, we don't know yet. It captures the essence of what made the classic Doom games touchstones of their day, and translates it to suit modern palates with impressively rendered hellscapes and a steady influx of tantalizing upgrades.

Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin, producer and creative director of Doom at id, showed up at the Bethesda E3 press conference to announce Doom Eternal, "an awesome, awesome new sequel to Doom". Sorry! Bethesda didn't reveal a release date or window along with Doom Eternal, though it did say we can look forward to the gameplay reveal at QuakeCon on August 10. Eyeball the E3 reveal trailer below. It's appropriate, since the original Doom took place on the Martian moon of Phobos before heading to humanity's home in Doom 2: Hell on Earth. The sequel will feature a hell-on-Earth setting with twice as many demons as its predecessor. The teaser ended with a shot of Doom Slayer, AKA "Doomguy" putting on his iconic green helmet before jumping into the action.
