Donald Trump warns Justin Trudeau over comments made at G7 Summit

President Donald Trump has repeatedly complained in recent days about Canadian tariffs on dairy products

On the eve of Mr. Trump's meeting with Mr. Kim, one of the president's top trade advisers, Peter Navarro, said there was "a special place in hell" for leaders like Mr. Trudeau, accusing him of engaging in "bad-faith diplomacy" with Mr. Trump.

As for Trump's own response, he predicted that Trudeau's remarks are going to cost Canada "a lot of money".

President Trump responded with a tweet calling Trudeau "very dishonest and weak" and followed up by saying the U.S. would not endorse the G7 communique, a document signed by the seven leaders underlining their commitment to free and open trade.

"I used language that was inappropriate", he said, according to Journal reporters.

Navarro came under scrutiny Sunday for bashing Trudeau after the prime minister criticized Trump in the wake of the G-7 summit held in Canada.

Of the 3.4 million U.S.jobs lost in that time period, about 2.6 million were lost in the crippled manufacturing industry, making up about three-fourths of the loss of jobs from the U.S. "We just shook hands!'" Trump said. Kudlow said the president won't "let a Canadian prime minister push him around".

Earlier on Tuesday at the Washington conference, White House Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Kevin Hassett said the United States and Canada need to "take a deep breath".

"Canadians, we're polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around", Trudeau said Saturday as the gathering concluded after Trump had left early for the Singapore summit with Kim Jong Un.

Addressing the feud between his administration and Canada, Trump said at a news conference Tuesday in Singapore that Trudeau had "learned" his lesson.

"When I got on to the plane, I think that Justin probably didn't know that Air Force One has about 20 televisions", Trump said, referring to statements that Trudeau made in a news conference shortly after the G-7 summit ended.

"It's very unfair to our farmers, and it's very unfair to the people of our country", he said.

The picture has since gone viral on the Internet, and Mr Trump raised it himself at the news conference after he was asked about his relationship with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. "Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!"

The United States has imposed 25 per cent tariffs on steel from Canada, Mexico and the European Union, and 10 per cent tariffs on aluminum. "We must put the American worker first!"
