Black Ops 3 is a bonus free game on PlayStation Plus

Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2

In anticipation of Black Ops 4 coming later this year, it was announced at the Sony was offering Black Ops 3 to PlayStation Plus subscribers free of charge. Whether you're a veteran of the series or a newcomer, there's more than enough content to warrant checking out Black Ops 3. This time around, the DLC will be packaged as the "Black Ops Pass", and for the time being you can't purchase it separately.

What if you've already pre-ordered the base game in digital formats? While it still remains true that the player is unable to buy the Black Op pass at launch if you're purchasing the standard edition, it will become available as a standalone "at a later date".

Q: Can I buy Black Ops Pass as a standalone product? . Well the FAQ is a little unclear.

PC: If you own a copy of the game, you can upgrade your version to the Digital Deluxe or Digital Deluxe Enhanced edition through Battle.net to receive the Black Ops Pass.

On top of being a smart way to get everyone who couldn't attend E3 2018 involved in the show, the giveaway should also keep Call of Duty fresh on everyone's mind with Black Ops 4 set to launch on October 12th. Instead of four separate content downloads, expect more robust and more frequent availability of maps and other content.

For many Call of Duty: Black Ops fans, the next installment of the long-running first-person shooter franchise has a lot to offer, but for those who pick up the game's season pass, it appears there will be even more.

"Black Ops 3 combines three unique game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies".
