Airbus threatens to leave Britain over Brexit trade relations

Airbus warns of threat to UK jobs from no-deal Brexit

The London march comes on the two year anniversary of the 2016 vote to leave.

Industry analysts say Airbus would be unlikely to pull out of Britain abruptly because of long lead times and a waiting-list of up to eight years for its planes.

The auto giant's United Kingdom boss told the BBC that clarity was needed by the end of the summer.

The Foreign Secretary warned Theresa May that she needs to be tough and fulfill the mandate of the voters. A wider rollout is planned by the end of the year and then a full rollout by March 2019.

Airbus, however, is already beginning to press the button on its crisis actions, for example concerning its supply chain.

The news was greeted by anger from Labour MPs.

Organisers say people "from all walks of life" will be present, including farmers, doctors, teachers, delivery drivers, students, fishermen and veterans, demonstrating the "growing popular demand" for another vote.

Sir Lockwood Smith said the United Kingdom must properly leave the EU customs union and single market. There are some who are still intent on watering Brexit down, ' he said.

Responding to the comments from Airbus, a United Kingdom government official said: "We have made significant progress towards agreeing a deep and special partnership with the European Union to ensure trade remains as free and frictionless as possible, including in the aerospace sector, and we're confident of getting a good deal that is mutually beneficial".

"Put simply, a No Deal scenario directly threatens Airbus' future in the United Kingdom".

"With the negotiations in chaos, with the Government making a total mess of Brexit and with Parliament paralysed, now is the time for people to take back control of the process". "I think our negotiating partners would not be wise if they thought our PM was bluffing".

Airbus AIR.PA issued its strongest warning yet over the impact of Britain's departure from the European Union, saying that a withdrawal without a deal on future trade would force it to reconsider its long-term position in the UK. Promoters say it will "focus on freedom from the European Union, freedom from terror, freedom of speech, freedom from sharia law and unity of all people irrespective of race or creed". "This ultimately has to be about a people's Brexit, not a bureaucrats' Brexit".

"This Saturday will see tens of thousands from all over the United Kingdom marching for a People's Vote in London and support is growing across the country".

"We are confident that we are going to get a good deal, one that ensures that trade is as free and frictionless as possible, including for the aerospace sector", Prime Minister Theresa May's spokeswoman said.

'They don't want a half-hearted Brexit, ' the Foreign Secretary wrote in the Sun.
