According to Canal Plus' Romain Collet-Gaudin, the 24-year-old is expected to discuss the final detail of his proposed move to Anfield and a medical could soon follow with the Reds keen on wrapping the deal prior to the summer World Cup.

Liverpool have already completed one major signing this summer, with Fabinho announced a week ago as having signed for the Reds while Naby Keïta is also set to join the club on July 1st.

Fekir has featured in both matches.

Grobbelaar, who played for Liverpool between 1981 and 1994, added: "They should keep him in the spotlight from next season".

And amidst all the reports, the player's agent has now spoken out to clear up the situation.

'I did not leave Marseille [this weekend], I am with my family, but I will be clear, we will go with Nabil to Liverpool or elsewhere when there is an agreement with Lyon and if Jean-Michel Aulas gives the green light, ' Bernes told Le Progres.

Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are noted as other interested parties, but Fekir's agent recently said there had been no contact with the German club.

"This transfer window could be long".

While few transfers are ever straightforward and without delays, most reports over the last few weeks have suggested Fekir to Liverpool is a matter of when, not if.

Bernes' update will prove a little frustrating for fans and it's looking increasingly likely that the World Cup final will precede any potential deal.

With Emre Can set to depart when his contract expires at the end of next month, Liverpool could possibly field an entirely new-look midfield next campaign if they manage to secure a deal for Fekir.
