Convicted murderer Clara Harris smiles at supporters in the courtroom Jan. 12 2007 in Houston. She ran over her husband David Harris multiple times with her Mercedes in 2002 killing him

Harris was convicted of murder for the July 24, 2002, death of her husband in the parking lot of the Hilton Nasa Clear Lake in Nassau Bay. Harris was reportedly a model prisoner.

Clara Harris, the Lake Jackson dentist who killed her husband by running over him several times with her vehicle, was released from prison Friday. She'll have to follow certain conditions, which include no contact with her former in-laws, her stepdaughter or David's former mistress. The fight moved outside to the parking lot, where she hit him with her Mercedes-Benz, then drove over him again and again.

She will have to remain under supervision for the remainder of her 20-year sentence, which ends on February 10, 2023, and she can not leave the Greater Houston area, KPRC-TV said.

The act was caught on camera by the private investigator that Cara Harris originally hired, and her step-daughter later testified against her in court.

During the trial, Harris' attorney argued that the crime happened moments after an emotional and volatile confrontation at the same hotel where the couple had gotten married.

Harris hired a private investigator after becoming suspicious of her husband, who was tracked to a suburban Houston hotel where he was found with his receptionist-turned-mistress.

That was nothing compared to the punishment her husband received, the Chronicle reported. Harris and husband David Harris were both dentists living in a South Houston suburb with their 3-year old twin sons, according to Texas Monthly.

In addition, she must live in Galveston County and wear an ankle monitor. She will also be regularly tested for drugs and alcohol.
