The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for portions of all four counties in the Susquehanna Valley.

The forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. tonight.

"Watch for 70mph plus winds, large hail, flash flooding possible along with power outages and downed trees".

Part of western Mass is now under a "moderate" risk for severe weather which is very unusual for southern New England.

For Tuesday morning, however, the weather service advised of patchy fog across Long Island.

According to the National Weather Service, golf ball sized hail was reported four miles east of Le Roy, ping pong ball sized hail was reported by law enforcement four miles north of Hamilton. Nice weather will be back in town on Thursday, when the Hub is slated for mostly sunny skies and temperatures that could reach 77 degrees.


Cape May County - 9 p.m.to 1 a.m.

The possibility of strong storms through Monday evening has prompted the Storm Prediction Center to issue a severe thunderstorm watch for KVOE listeners. The frontal boundary may give a little bit further to the south allowing some breaks of sun and a lower chance of showers.

Sheds were damaged near Cassoday in Butler County, but Schminke said that was caused by strong winds and not a tornado. "While the main threat is for minor flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, there is a small chance for localized flash flooding". DiRienzo said damaging winds typically affect a wider area than tornadoes.

Rain is expected in the forecast on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
