Police looking into Greitens investigation

Galloway released a letter Tuesday that she had sent to Greitens' office seeking copies of bids and contracts for the attorneys, itemized billings and the budget line item from which they are being paid.

At the State Capitol, lawmakers busied themselves on Tuesday with floor votes and legislative debates, but in hallways and private offices they spoke of the looming possibility of impeachment proceedings and a solemn mood that has settled over their work in recent weeks.

Gardner's office said she may seek a special prosecutor or assign the case to one of her assistants.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner should be disbarred. The defense argued that Gardner was aware that one of her investigators had committed perjury and mishandled key aspects of their investigation.

Gardner said she will refile the charge and appoint a special prosecutor to handle the case, according to the Post. I am extraordinarily grateful for the tremendous patience and courage of friends, family, and people of faith, who have all recognized that in time comes the truth. Nor was there any evidence that the woman's photo had been deleted, the motion says. The prosecution said they hoped the case would be re-filed and overseen by a special prosecutor, while Greitens' defense team said the case should be over.

A Gardner spokeswoman says a decision will be made later on how to proceed. Tisaby said that he took no notes during the interview - a claim contradicted by a video of the conversation that was belatedly provided to defense lawyers.

Ryan did not immediately return TPM's request for comment on whether the computer tampering case, which legal experts have argued is much stronger, will also be assigned to a special prosecutor.

The charges stem from an incident in which Greitens had an extramarital affair with a women and allegedly took partially nude photos of her while she was tied up, without her consent.

St. Louis police have launched an investigation into the way the city prosecutor's office handled the felony invasion-of-privacy case against Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens.

On Monday morning, Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens sat in a St. Louis courtroom watching potential jurors answer questions about allegations that he attempted to blackmail his one-time lover.

Greitens has said he is innocent of any criminal wrongdoing and called the relationship in question consensual.

A judge has yet to set a trial date on a remaining felony charge accusing Greitens of disclosing a donor list for The Mission Continues to his political fundraiser in 2015 without the permission of the St. Louis-based charity he founded.

The House investigation is separate from Greitens' criminal trial on invasion of privacy.

The trial was going through a long, drawn out process of jury selection and was supposed to start Wednesday after it was originally scheduled to begin Monday.

Defense lawyer Jim Martin said Monday that the circuit attorney's office told Greitens' team Friday that they had obtained information from the cloud but did not have a photo.
