Pac-12 teams make NCAA softball field, 5 will host regionals

The Huskers were not among the teams in 64-team field, which was announced Sunday night.

Last week, Alabama (33-18) won its opening-round game at the 2018 SEC Softball Tournament against Auburn, 6-4, before being eliminated by Florida in the quarterfinals, 5-2.

Michigan's softball team is in the NCAA Tournament for the 23 straight year.

This is South Carolina's 21st NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.


OR (47-7) will open against Albany (32-14) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

It is one of five Big Ten teams in the tournament this season, joining Ohio State, Minnesota, Northwestern and Wisconsin.

Per the brackets, the victor of the Alabama regional will face the victor of No. 5 Washington's regional. The victor of the two regionals will face off in a best-of-three super regional, with Washington hosting if it wins its regional. OR and Florida are the top two seeds.

Florida has hosted an NCAA Regional every year under the direction of head coach Tim Walton. Be the team to win there and its off to the 2018 College Women's World Series in Oklahoma City.
