Details on the allegations are not now available, but Schulman does have a controversial incident from his past.

"We take these allegations very seriously", an MTV spokesperson said in a statement. "We're working with Critical Content, our third party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation". The couple has a almost year-and-half-old daughter together.

Schulman has a history of misconduct allegations.

In 2014 Schulman revealed he'd punched a girl in the face while attending Sarah Lawrence college in 2006. "I didn't tackle him and I certainly didn't choke him with his camera strap", the unidentified woman told Vulture at the time. "The impact broke my glasses and the rest of the night was a blur".

"The behavior described did not happen", the Catfish creator said. Following the allegations, MTV has temporarily suspended production of "Catfish".

Catfish is now in its seventh season and sees Nev and co-host Max Joseph meet with individuals who have formed online relationships with their significant other.

Neev is married to Laura Perlongo, who he shares one child with, 17-month-old Cleo James. Schulman claimed in his book, In Real Life: Love, Lies & Identity in the Digital Age, that he was acting out of self-defense-but a woman who claimed to be his victim told a different story. The channel is helping now conducting an investigation into the matter. "Two years ago, Schulman also drew ire with a tweet in which he wrote, "#BlackGirlsRock I totally agree.

Schulman did not immediately respond to V.F.'s request for comment.
