Under the hood of the new Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster is the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 motor that powers the complete AMG GT family, although this unit has been retuned, and now produces a maximum power output of 515 PS while the peak torque is rated at 670 Nm.

The GT S Roadster sprints from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 308km/h, making it 0.2 seconds quicker to triple figures than the GT Roadster, but 0.1 seconds slower than the GT C. Additionally, the GT S Roadster's top whack is 6km/h higher than the base GT, and 8km/h down on the GT C. It's the third variant to join Affalterbach's drop-top sports vehicle lineup, and it sits between the current GT and GT C in terms of performance and price.

The standalone AMG range of cars has only been with us for five minutes, but this - the new AMG GT S Roadster - represents the tenth version of an AMG auto you can buy.


The most noticeable feature of the Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster is the lack of GT R styled bodywork. This feature adjusts the damping at each wheel to the current road situation.

Standard equipment also includes the electronically controlled limited-slip differential at the rear axle, and AMG high-performance composite braking system (ceramic composite brakes are optional). They house composite brake discs that measure 390mm at the front and 360mm at the back.

Mercedes-AMG has introduced the GT S Roadster, a performance-focused variant that slots between the basic GT Roadster and the flagship GT C. Nappa leather features throughout the cabin and AMG adds its silver chrome trim package as standard. Pricing will also be available as we draw closer to the car's launch.
