Over the weekend, the Seattle Mariners placed Cano on the disabled list due to a fractured fifth metacarpal in his right hand.

"I would never do anything to cheat the rules of the game that I love, and after undergoing dozens of drug tests over more than a decade, I have never tested positive for a Performance Enhancing Substance for the simple reason that I have never taken one".

Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano faces an 80-game suspension for violating MLB's joint drug agreement, according to multiple reports. As it turns out, the Mariners will have to get used to playing without him for the foreseeable future. It has not been reported what PED Cano was popped for as of yet, and the suspension has not been confirmed by Major League Baseball. He was batting.287 with a.385 on-base percentage and four home runs in 39 games this season. First-time offenders of the MLB's drug policy receive an 80-game suspension.

"Robinson made a mistake", the Mariners said in a statement. He is batting.287 with 23 RBIs and 10 home runs in 39 games played this season for the Mariners, who are now in third place in the American League West, one and a half games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Angels. Their other options are limited, with Andrew Romine serving as their backup infielder and Taylor Motter being the only other upper-minors infielder on the 40-man roster.
