Man tries to force his way onto plane injures 3 ground staff

After a few failed attempts to get the door open, the man appears to start bashing it with his feet.

After apparently lighting up a cigarette he ran to the nearest gate, pushed the crew out of the way and ran onto the tarmac.

A passenger who missed his flight allegedly assaulted airport staff, stormed the tarmac and attempted to rip the door off of another airplane before he was restrained by security and arrested.

"Someone was running on the tarmac".

"We were sitting waiting to get on the flight and people went, 'Oh my god, what is going on?'" Murray said. "Someone was running on the tarmac". He tried to board a plane to Sydney.

"This man was trying to get up the stairs, he was physically fighting with the staff, punching and scratching them".

"A man was arrested as a result and is now assisting police with inquiries", she said.

Police then showed up and escorted the bearded and tattooed man, who had greying hair and was wearing a dark sweater, back through the airport.

"We reward our crew for safely dealing with this incident and restraining the passenger till police arrived", Jetstar mentioned in a press release.

Nine News reports that Australian Federal Police officers arrested the man and he was charged with unlawful assault of an airline employee. He will appear in court next month and the police said that more charges may be laid.

It is understood the man asked Jetstar staff about purchasing a ticket.

"This behaviour is unacceptable and we have placed an immediate ban on this passenger traveling on all Jetstar and Qantas flights", said a spokesperson for Jetstar, the passenger's would-be airline of choice.

Ironically, the incident comes just two days after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull andHome Affairs Minister Peter Dutton used Melbourne Airport as a platform for discussing tougher security measures announced in the recent federal budget.
