Law Enforcement Reminds Drivers To Click It Or Ticket

Buckle up: Washington police step up seat belt enforcement patrols

Every year, the highways fill with families in vehicles, on their way to visit family and start their summer vacations. Xenia High School, the victor of the 2018 Spring High School Seat Belt Challenge, will be awarded with a check in the amount of $500, sponsored by All State Agent, Scott Pauley.

The Pennsylvania State Police are joining PennDOT and law enforcement agencies across the country for the national "Click It or Ticket" seat belt enforcement campaign.

Law enforcement will be cracking down on Click It or Ticket violators around the clock. If law enforcement finds you on the road unbuckled anytime or anywhere, you can expect to get a ticket, not a warning. We see the loss of life.

With the summer travel season nearly upon us, police departments throughout the area are stepping up efforts to ensure traffic safety.

"Using a seat belt is the simplest way for a driver and his or her passengers to protect themselves when traveling", said Gary Poedubicky, Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety.

During the campaign, officers will cite motorists and their passengers if they're not wearing a seat belt.

Beginning May 14, 2018 and running through June 3, the yearly enforcement campaign aims to reduce traffic fatalities by keeping people in their cars. Participating law enforcement agencies will be taking a no-excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement, writing citations day and night. "Adults should wear a seat belt - every trip, every time - and ensure children are properly buckled in an appropriate child passenger safety seat".
