Flood warnings issued for parts of the carolinas

Forecasters say rainfall over the last few days has totaled from 1.5 to over three inches south of I-96. It urged poeple to "seek higher ground now". A flood advisory continues through Thursday for the east branch of the DuPage River in Bolingbrook, affecting Will County. Expect winds to be about 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 24 miles per hour before 10 p.m.

The Rock River at Lake Koshkonong approached "minor flooding" levels on Wednesday, and is expected to border "moderate flooding" levels by the weekend.

The Flood Warning already in place at the Rock River in Afton remains. Because the soil is already saturated and streams are already swollen that means flooding is likely nearly any day, with some potential for significant river flooding late in the week through the weekend.


Ponding of water is possible in low lying areas like ditches, culverts and fields. Water also begins to flood yards of four elevated homes along Mount Vernon Road in Douglas County.
