On being charged by the Delhi Police for 'abetment to suicide' in Sunanda Pushkar death case, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor accused the investigators of falsely framing him in the case.

The charge-sheet submitted by the Delhi police with the Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmendar Singh says that Sunanda's death was not a murder but a suicide.

The couple were married in 2010, the third marriage for both.

Subsequent reports since then spoke of "poisoning", "mysterious injection marks" and according to one report, a "deep bite" on her palm.

The news report claims that Tharoor's name was mentions in column 2 of the charge sheet since police do not have enough evidence against him. The couple had allegedly had a huge fight on a flight from Kerala to Delhi.

Mr Tharoor described the charges filed on Monday as "preposterous" and said he would "contest it vigorously".

Even after three years, police had not arrested anyone and no custodial interrogation took place, Swamy had said, adding that the post-mortem report confirmed her death was "unnatural" and "due to poison".

".the justice system will once again prove the blind conspiracy of the Delhi Police and the active instance of the revenge-seeking factory of the Modi government", he said.

Pushkar was found dead in suite number 345 of Leela hotel in south Delhi on January 17, 2014.

"Under Section 301 CrPC and also via JK International judgment of SC, I am entitled to assist the prosecutor in the Sunanda unnatural death case", he tweeted.

Earlier, DNA in an exclusive had reported that investigators knew right from the beginning that it was not a case of suicide.

The police have named Pushkar's husband Shashi Tharoor as a suspect.

2/2) it does not speak well of the methods or motivations of the Delhi Police.

"We reject the charges in toto". In a pressnote issued here, he said the people would see through the BJP's gameplan to defame Congress leaders. "It is coming from the BJP headquarters...it is coming from the factory of lies".
