The video knocked Drake's hit single God's Plan of the top of the Billboard chart this Monday after the song had just surpassed the 100 million views mark on YouTube.

"This Is America" has dominated the conversation online since it came out, so it's not all that shocking that it's hit No. 1.

Internationally, the track holds at No. 1 on Spotify's Global Chart and U.S. Chart and also topped iTunes in 45 markets - and was Top 5 in 63 markets.

The 34-year-old actor-singer, whose real name is Donald Glover, logged off from social media for a while after his music video went viral.

The debut is a huge achievement for Gambino - a.k.a. cross-platform phenom Donald Glover - and also a particularly telling one for where both the Hot 100 and pop music in general are at in 2018. As big as "Redbone" was, it tapped out at No. 12 on the Hot 100 - and that was still by far his biggest hit on the chart prior to "America", with the singer-rapper never before getting higher than No. 64 ("V. 3005", 2014) with his three previous entries. The video, which dropped alongside the song, has been responsible for much of its success, as the Hiro Murai-directed visuals delivered stark images of dancing and violence, exploring the senselessness and commoditization of black violence in America. On the download side of things, "This Is America" wrapped up the week with 78,000 in sales.

The track ends Drake's 15-week reign at the top of the charts - Nice for What was number one for four weeks after God's Plan ruled for 11. He's really not making music after this.
