Now we know, it will be Battlefield V and an official reveal is right around the corner, coming on May 23rd.

"With our next Battlefield game, the team at Dice is bringing the intensity of combat to life in new and unexpected ways", said EA CEO Andrew Wilson.

As to what Battlefield V will be about, your guess is as good as mine.

As you can see in the graphic above, the event will take place live online on YouTube, Twitch, and Microsoft's own streaming service, Mixer.

So that you know, the next Battlefield game was rumored to be different than Battlefield 1. Expect a full gameplay trailer at E3 2018.

EA have provided some more specific detail about the Battlefield V reveal event, including some hints about the game's campaign and setting.

In his announcement, Trevor Noah doesn't refer to the title as Battlefield 5 specifically, but refers to the whole thing as "V EXCITING" and flashes a mug with an enormous, neon-looking V at the end of an accompanying video.

Battlefield's main competitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, will be revealed tomorrow at 10AM PT/1PM ET. The blog post promises multiplayer that "that spans multiple maps and modes" and new online modes.
