10 children rescued from 'horrible' living conditions; parents arrested

Mother denies abuse after her 10 children are taken into protective custody

The investigation began March 31 after the Fairfield Police Department returned a missing 12-year-old to the child's home in 2200 block of Fieldstone Court in Fairfield, about 46 miles northeast of San Francisco.

"It literally breaks your heart, and you're outraged by how a parent or anyone could commit those acts", Henry said afterward. He was being held in the Solano County Jail in lieu of $1.5 million bail.

She says the "squalor" officers saw when investigating the missing-child report was her tearing apart the house as she searched for her child. Hurlbut added that police found filthy conditions in the home shared by Rogers and Allen.

Officers responded to the home and discovered the apparent abuse when the children's mother, Ina Rogers, called 911 on March 31.

Fairfield Police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said during a press conference Monday that there was "garbage and spoiled food on the floor", as well as "animal and human feces and a large amount of debris making large amounts of the house unpassable".

But Rogers, who works at a heart monitoring company, said the home was messy because she had been searching for her son who had run off after his computer was confiscated.

All 10 children, meanwhile, were placed into the care of the Solano County Child Welfare office.

The kids didn't require medical consideration once they have been eliminated.

They were "living in squalor and unsafe conditions", authorities said.

Police responded to the area and, as part of the investigation, searched his home. "This is absolutely appalling", Ina Rogers said, standing in the doorway of her Fairfield home while giving reporters her reaction to charges she and her husband abused, even tortured, their 10 children.

On Monday she showed reporters the family's four-bedroom home, denied abusing the children and said that she is being judged for having a large family and home-schooling them. However tales about abuse got here out steadily over the previous six weeks and eight of the youngsters informed professionals about incidents relationship again a number of years, authorities stated. Eight of the ten children are Rogers' and Allen's biological children. The opposite rooms have been used as a master suite, playroom and meditation room.

Their parents, Ina Rogers, 30, and Jonathan Michael Allen, 29, were subsequently arrested.

"That's why this is absolutely insane", Rogers said of the children's father. She did not say why. "I was afraid I could not find him", she said.

Court records do not indicate whether the parents have lawyers. "Not one of my kids even has a cavity", she told reporters a few hours after Jonathan Allen was arrested.

David and Louise Turpin previously pleaded not guilty to torture, child abuse and other charges in a case that has drawn global attention since the couple's 17-year-old daughter escaped the family's Perris, California, home in January. Allen said she is estranged from her son and that he has kept his family away from the children. "Once that fear sets in you don't know what to do".
