We Now Know Who Actually Bought Stuff From Russell Crowe's Divorce Auction

John Oliver revealed he had bought the jockstrap on his TV show Last Week Tonight

John Oliver revealed he had bought the jockstrap on his TV show Last Week Tonight

Despite initially denying that he was the one that bought Russell Crowe's jockstrap from the movie "Cinderella Man", John Oliver has now come clean and shared all of his new memorabilia with his "Last Week Tonight" viewers.

Why we care: Newly crowned rap queen Cardi B recently opined in an Instagram video about paying taxes: "I want to fucking know WHAT YA DOING WITH MY FUCKING MONEY!"

The British star, who said he'd got a bit carried away with the online shopping, later admitted that he was going to give the entire collection to the last remaining Blockbuster in Anchorage.

Crowe threw a big-ticket auction last weekend to celebrate his recent divorce from wife Danielle Spencer, putting a whole bunch of his belongings, including movie memorabilia and musical instruments, under the hammer. The jockstrap used in the boxing film was reportedly worth a range from $500 to $600, according to broker Sotheby's who would be holding Crowe's auction.

Oliver said Washington's chair cost more. Even that sentence is absolutely incredible to say out loud.

For five seasons, John Oliver and his team at HBO's "Last Week Tonight" have pulled absurd pranks such as starting a church and buying commercial time during "Fox & Friends" in an attempt to Trojan horse information to President Trump.

However, these items may not be with Oliver for long.

"To the manager of the only remaining Blockbuster in Anchorage, Alaska at 5600 Debarr Road #5 ... all of this s- is yours", Oliver said.

As of this filing on Monday morning, it is not clear if the store has been in touch with Oliver.
