Trump calls Comey a 'slime ball,' sparking rush to dictionaries

In a remarkable look back, Comey says he was deciding "in an environment where Hillary Clinton was sure to be the next president".

However, the president's tweets also had the unintended effect of promoting Comey's book, which has already rocketed up the charts on Amazon's bestseller list despite the fact that it doesn't officially release until Tuesday.

Trump fired Comey last May.

Former FBI director James Comey's 304-page book, coming out Tuesday, promises to share never-before-heard stories about his interactions with President Trump. And the White House has a yawning credibility gap, with a long record of vociferously denying news reports - the shake-up of Trump's legal team, or the ouster of now-former national security adviser H.R. McMaster - that are proven true days later. More than any other single person, James Comey himself is responsible for President Donald Trump. In this view, Comey is an ego-driven false martyr, not only bitter and vengeful but downright corrupt - a sellout to the Democrats who have refused to accept their loss or Trump's triumph in 2016.

Former FBI Director James Comey is sworn-in before testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee in the Hart Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill June 8, 2017 in Washington, DC. Throughout the book, Comey writes that Trump showed all the hallmarks of a congenital liar.

"I know you. You were in an impossible position", Schumer told him, according to Comey.

- Comey writes that Trump said he was thinking about asking the FBI to investigate the allegation to prove it was a lie.

The US president lives in "a cocoon of alternative reality" that he tried to pull others around him into, Comey adds, according to The Washington Post.

“It was my great honor to fire James Comey!” Trump wrote in his first remarks since advance copies surfaced of Comeys upcoming book that includes blistering descriptions of Trump and his presidency.

He compares Trump's insistence on a "silent circle of assent" to the code observed in the Mafia crime family that Comey helped bust as a young prosecutor in New York City.

During her tenure as the US Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, Hillary Clinton used a private server and email accounts for official business, which became the focus of an official FBI investigation into the potential mishandling of classified information.

With President Donald Trump's blessing, Republicans are preparing to launch a major counter-offensive against former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, who is set to embark on a book promotion tour that could make explosive claims about Trump's conduct, according to CNN.

"Boy, were those words I needed to hear", Comey writes.

On a grammatical note, it said, "Although Trump rendered the word as an open compound (slime ball) in his tweet, the traditional form is as a closed compound (slimeball)". "To draw us in", Comey writes in an excerpt cited by ABC.

Very soon, the book will be out, and the country will buy it in droves, and decide where Comey's loyalty lies. "I don't remember consciously thinking about that, but it must have been". Comey asks his readers.

New Jersey's NJ.com, for instance, goes with this headline: "Comey: Getting wedgies as a kid in N.J. prepared me for Trump".
