Damaging winds, flooding rains, tornadoes possible Saturday

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of East Texas under a slight risk, a large portion of the area under an enhanced risk and Cass, Marion, and Harrison counties under a moderate risk for significant severe weather.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 7 p.m. for Riley, Pottawatomie, Dickinson, Geary, Morris, Wabaunsee and Lyon counties. Early morning temps should be in the 60s and 70s.

The cold front sweeps through during the evening and overnight.

The storms will likely slow down as they move east increasing the flooding risk. "We certainly will have the potential for some large hail, damaging winds and the potential for a tornado if the right type of storm develops".

The weather threats are expected to include damaging winds on Friday ahead of the early Saturday cold front.

Unfortunately, the temps will go back down as the frontal boundary passes for the upcoming weekend. The best chance for whiteouts will be late Friday night there. It has certainly kept the severe weather risk at bay for much of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas so far.

Are you prepared for inclement weather? The rain will turn to a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow across south central and east central Minnesota, and west central Wisconsin Friday evening, before changing to all snow Saturday morning.
