The Prime Minister appreciated the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh, for the development work done in the State over the last fourteen years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while speaking at the launch of Health and Wellness Centre at Bijapur, emphasised on the importance of Dr BR Ambedkar's role in the race for progress. PM will be in Bijapur- a shining example of how challenges to development can be overcome.

Modi also said that the people behind the violent activities were from outside the state and it was they who were responsible for the death of local youths. Modi, who visited the Jangla health and wellness centre-which was earlier a community health centre- said the scheme aims to transform sub-centres and primary health care centres into health and wellness centres where facilities such as teleconsultation would be provided. He visited a model Anganwadi Centre, and interacted with Anganwadi workers and beneficiary children of Poshan Abhiyan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Gram Lok Suraj campaign will be run in the whole country till May 5. Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, the government aims to open 1.5 lakh health and wellness centre by 2022, which would be equipped to treat host of diseases, including blood pressure, diabetes, cancer and old-age illness. He also laid foundation stones for road and bridge projects worth over Rs 1,700 crore.

Modi also inaugurated a railway line and a passenger train between Gudum and Bhanupratapur, bringing north Bastar region on India's railway map.

"115 backward districts in the country will be given priority in the Ayushman Bharat scheme", Modi said.

The Prime Minister asserted that the initiatives and decisions taken by the Union Government indicate its commitment to the welfare of the poor and weaker sections of society.

He said that he has come to launch the Ayushman Bharat Yojana's first phase and the Lok Suraj campaign.

The Prime Minister asserted that people's participation is the strength of the Government, which will help in the creation of New India by 2022.
